Event Organiser

When we need you:

You will deliver the event during October half term, probably on the weekend of 30th to 31st October, but you will be involved in planning sessions in the run up to the event at times that suit the planning group. So about 20 hours in total between August and October. There is also a residential training and team building weekend on either 21st to 22nd August or 11th to 12th September in Kettering (we provide accommodation and pay for your transport). Attendance is encouraged and it will be held on the date most people can make.

    Do you see yourself as a leader, a good organiser, someone who loves to see a project succeed?  Volleyball England are forming a 25th Hour Event Group of volunteers who will be supported to plan and deliver a volleyball event for young people in their area during October half-term (Saturday 23rd October to Sunday 31st October 2010).  As Event Organiser, you will take the lead in how the project progresses. This is a fantastic, unique sporting opportunity to give something back to your community and gain some great event management experience so get in touch!

     

    A 25th Hour Event Group will be based in Tameside.  There will be three other groups running events around the country and there will be opportunities for members from each group to attend central meetings and training courses.

     

    Each group requires an Event Organiser to coordinate the whole event, delegate tasks and make it a success!  This is where you come in!

     

    Main duties:

    ● To have an overall vision of the project

    ● To plan the project

    ● To chair meetings and let everyone have a say

    ● To ensure other members of the group complete their tasks

    ● To liaise with the national planning group

    ● To evaluate the success of the project

     

    Essential skills required:

    ● An interest in volleyball

    ● Confident working with children or young adults

    ● Motivational skills

    ● Ability to delegate

    ● Enthusiasm

    ● A team-player

    ● Able to use own initiative

    ● Able to talk to people of different ages from different backgrounds

    ● Patience

    ● Willingness to learn

    Out of pocket expenses (such as travel and food) are paid for by prior arrangement.

     

    After you have said you’re interested in doing this, we’ll send an application form.  This needs to be returned by the end of July.  Then when you’ve done this we will phone you for an informal chat.  CRB checks will also need to be done, but we’ll help you with this.
