Side By Side is looking for Peer Educators aged 16 - 19 to join the project. Drama is used to tackle homophobia and raise awareness of the rights of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgendered communities.
Each Peer Educator will receive training in drama and workshop facilitation skills over the course of several training sessions. The Peer Education team will perform a play about gay rights and homophobia in all secondary schools in Sheffield and run workshops with the year group to help facilitate discussion about the issues raised in the play. Each Peer Educator will be asked to be available for one school performance per half term.
Peer Educators will also have the opportunity to gain a Youth Achievement Award for their contribution to the project.
