More info
Chlamydia is the most common bacterial sexually transmitted infection, the numbers are rising and the biggest concern is for 16 to 24 year olds in our community. One person finds out they have Chlamydia every five minutes in the UK and we need to help young people understand the importance and benefits of testing. As a volunteer you would visit community events with our team and using your smile, and easy going chatty style you would help to explain about Chlamydia and the benefits of testing.
This opportunity would allow you to expand your knowledge of sexual health, and develop sensitive communication skills. Your creative ideas will be listened to, and will help us to develop an even better service. If you want to make a difference and/ or are considering a career in any health related service, this is your opportunity to gain some participation in public health, and have some evidence for job/university applications and interviews.
Chlamydia really is everybody’s business as it is usually invisible, very easily spread and if left untreated causes serious health problems.
We can offer you support on your journey and volunteers will be eligible to access free multi agency sexual health training sessions to support their role.
