The Salmon Youth Centre, based in Southwark in London, are currently looking for volunteers aged between 18-30 for their‘Connect 2’ programme - a befriending scheme for young people who have a disability. Do you have a couple of hours to spare every fortnight and would like to help young people in your local community? Then read on!
We need people who are:
Enthusiastic and fun, willing to learn and able to spare some time.
To be connected with young people who are:
Aged 14-19, and have a mild to moderate level of disability.
They want to go out and have fun and need to practice independence skills.
Volunteers will:
Be matched with a young person and go out with them (e.g. Swimming, shopping etc)
at least once a fortnight.
Volunteers will receive:
A life changing experience;
Accredited training in working with young people who have a disability and regular supervision;
A chance to become part of one of the biggest Youth Centres in the country.This opportunity is avaliable for young people aged 18+ who live, work or study in London.
