24th Tottenham Scout Group is an organisation that works with young people with special needs; providing children with personal development and exciting activities. They are seeking confident motivated individuals to volunteer and encourage scouts to take part in promoting the activities that are on offer, by aiding with the running of the scouts group evening sessions and annual trips.
The role will involve:
· Peer to peer engagement
· Inter acting with the scouts
· Participating and encouraging scouts to take part in activities
· Provide support to the scouts and other volunteers
· Assisting with the scouts personal care and medication where necessary ( however this is an opt in opt out role – thus you can opt – out of carrying out that role
· Escort the scouts on day tripsBenefits
This is a great opportunity to volunteer with younger people with disabilities and make a real difference to their lives.The role offers excellent potential for development with peer to peer engagement.
Through your voluntary work you will also have the opportunity to will receive a nationally recognised award at the end of your volunteering time, which is recognised by many academic institutions and will also add value to your CV.The experience and knowledge gained would be invaluable for any young person.
Personal qualities most suited to this role: Essential:
· Friendly , Approachable and enthusiastic individual
· Interested in youth work or working with young people with special needs or teaching
· Ability to communicate at all levels
· Willing to engage with the young scouts and take part in the activities
· Reliable and committedHow much time is involved?
Applicants must be able to commit to 1 ½ hours per week. Every Tuesday from 6- 7.30 pm (only runs during term time) -
