GIFT
(Give It Forward Today)
GIFT is a grassroots, independent volunteer organisation, whose purpose is to encourage and promote a culture of giving and volunteering amongst young Jews in the community. GIFT is all about inspiring young people to ‘give’ and to make a difference to others in which ever way they can. To this end, GIFT have a number of regular or one-off opportunities for young people, including:
Evening food packathons in our Golders Green warehouse (GIFT rescues and distributes over a tonne of food to 1000 people in need every week). Come along have fun with your friends packing up food parcels and make a difference at the same time.
Helping–hand – helping children from disadvantaged families after school or on Sundays, with homework; playing games or football with them to give their parents a break etc.
Schools – We are looking for school representatives to make our innovative projects happen in your school. GIFT go into schools and innovate projects to give young people the opportunity to GIVE – be it giving one of their presents from their birthday/bar/Bat Mitzvah; making up fruit baskets for Tu-Bishvat, or flower bouquets for Shavuot etc.
Old age homes visits – we will organise old age home visits for you and your friends to provide entertainment for the elderly – such as make-up days, games afternoons, musical entertainment etc.
GIFT Badges – fundraising can be fun! – Sell our GIFT Badges in or out of school – the buyer chooses the charity that s/he wishes to donate to and gets a GIFT badge in return. You both have made a difference. GIFT is looking for outgoing & confident young people to sell our badges.
What are your talents? – How can you use them to make another person SMILE?
