Spots V Stripes community games volunteering
Groundwork has joined with Cadbury to help bring its Spots v Stripes (SvS) campaign to our area. Cadbury's SvS aims to get millions of people across the nation playing games in the run up to London 2012. SvS is inspired by the ethos of the London 2012 Olympic Games and Paralympic Games and is enabling people of all ages and walks of life to rediscover the spirit of play and light hearted competition.
Play connects people, changes lives and helps build stronger communities.
Volunteer with Groundwork Leeds
In order to build a lasting legacy of game playing and help build stronger communities beyond 2012, Cadbury in association with Groundwork, is recruiting and training 2000 volunteers. Together, we are bringing SvS to communities across the nation, including harder to reach and disadvantaged groups.
You can help Groundwork Leeds deliver this mission across Leeds, Bradford, Calderdale and Kirklees.
Games Makers are volunteers who help us to deliver all our events. These vary from small community galas where we play connect 4 and dominoes, to huge family fun days with football tournaments and relay races for all ages. Your responsibilities will include:

· Leading games, sports and other activities;
· Being an ambassador of the Spots V Stripes programme by handing out stickers, encouraging people to pick a side and win points for their team, and helping people to have fun;
· Helping to set up and maintaining health and safety.
You will also gain events management experience if you can commit to meetings every 2 weeks. You can join our team of volunteers, with staff support, in planning, delivering and evaluating events in our own communities.
Why volunteer?
Groundwork Leeds has a structured programme of monitoring, rewards and training to ensure you get the most from your time volunteering with us:
· You'll receive a free adidas t-shirt when you start, then a selection of chocolate and clothing rewards as you donate more time to the programme.
· Improve your employability and build skills such as team work, organisation and communication.
· Gain recognised qualifications in sports leadership and first aid.
If you'd like to join the Spots V Stripes volunteer team locally email tom.mower@groundwork.org.uk or call Tom at Groundwork Leeds on 0113 238 0601
