More info

Faversham has 2 wonderful Sure Start Children's Centres - St Mary's & Bysing Wood work together to offer a range of services to children under 5 and their families covering childcare, health, family & support services in a supportive, understanding & positive environment.
Both Centres are able to offer a wide range of opportunities - see below for list of current opportunities....if any of these inspire you to get involved then please click on 'I'd like to do this' and you will be sent an email telling you what you need to do next!
IT - Do people tell you it's hard to keep up with your forever changing Facebook status?! Are you a whizz when it comes to anything online? If so, Faversham Children's Centres would much appreciate support setting up a website, keeping the info up to date, and exploring the use of social media such as Facebook and Twitter.
Marketing - Currently Faversham Children's Centres produce a quarterly newsletter and a monthly bulletin. If you are interested in suggesting and writing articles, or can whip up a Publisher document in no time at all, we'd like to hear from you!
HealthWalks - Do you love nothing more than being outdoors and heading off the beaten track? We are looking for people who can get our HealthWalks going again, and support the continuation of the walks, by route planning and attending family friendly walks around Faversham.
Could you put a poster in your window? When we have special events and activities to promote, we'd love to have your name down to pop up a poster and let all of Faversham know what the Children's Centres are up to!
Green Guardian - Do you recycle avidly? Are you passionate about the environment? If so, we'd like people to help make the Children's Centres 'green' by working with us to promote energy saving, recycling, composting and achieve an accredited 'Eco' award.
Noticeboards - Making our centres look pretty takes a lot of time! If you're creative and would like to help us achieve an informative and consistent approach with our displays, please do let us know!
Books - You may have noticed the seemingly exhaustive supply of books and Storysacks we have! We'd love someone to help us promote and use them some more, by creating a 'story/Storysack of the month' display.
Green fingers - St Mary's Children's Centre has limited outdoor space, but certainly makes the most of it, and would welcome someone who could volunteer a short amount of time each week to look after the flowers etc and develop further the outdoor space that we have.
Davington Church Parent & Toddler group - This Monday afternoon group is facilitated by some lovely ladies from Davington Church, with a chance for mums, dads, toddlers and babies to relax and play in a cosy environment. An extra volunteer would be fab to help with tea making, chatting to families and supporting art and craft activities.
Minute taker - Our Parents' Forum runs one Friday lunchtime a month and we need someone to jot down what's discussed and write it up! Creche facilities are available, and free lunch is always provided!
Parents' Forum - Children's Centres are for parents and children under five, therefore they should be full of your good ideas! If you want to come along one Friday lunchtime a month and share your experience of Faversham Children's Centres and help us improve what we offer, we'll give you a free creche and lunch in return!
Scrapbook - Faversham Children's Centres like to keep a record of all of the different activities and events we've done over the years and months - we'd like someone with an eye for detail to help us compile and keep a record of what's been going on, perhaps once or twice a month?
Recipe books - We have the brilliant Community Chef coming in to encourage us to enjoy good old fashioned home cooking! We'd like to share that with all Faversham families by compiling a centre recipe book where your recipes can be put in, borrowed, and reused again, to make Faversham's under 5s better fed than Jamie Oliver's children!
Leaflets - At Faversham Children's Centres we seem to get in a pickle with leaflets, with one for every topic under the sun! Once a month or so, it would be great for someone to come in, check our leaflets are in order and make sure they're all up to date. If you put your CDs in alphabetical order, maybe this volunteering opportunity is for you!
Toy Library – Run every Thursday afternoon, Rural Swale Toy Library is in need of volunteers to help take care of this wonderful resource. Please help us book out items to professional groups and to maintain the resources; this will include making sure items are clean, complete and ready to go on loan.
