Selections Childrens centre just by Sele School in Hertford has loads of different opportunites working with young children or supporting parents. Do you want to extend your skills working with young children or try your hand at story time all under the guidance of trained leaders. You may be thinking about a career in child care - well this is a good opportunity to see if you like it. You need a responsible attitude and a caring flexible approach.
Once a month could you help with the Terrific Twos -stay and play session on a Thursday morning. Parents are on hand but help is needed setting up and clearing away craft activites but more importantly playing and helping with the children during craft time from 10-12.
In the Toy library on Mondays you could help with the toy exchange, assist leaders checking toys in and out, tidying up and sorting out from 9.15-11.15
Lunch bunch on Wednesdays from 11.30-1pm. This group promotes healthy lunch options - assist the play outreach worker with the healthy option- if you like cooking - simple recipes can be incorported. The session ends with singing with the little ones so tune up and help out.
Story time Fridays 1.45-2.30 Can you make a story come alive and enthrall youg children with imaginings of fairy tales and adventure- then this is the opportunity for you to use your skills with children 0-5 how you tell the story is up to you.
Enjoy activity - active sports wise is starting in the new year - its to help get the children active and stay healthy so if you are interested in music and movement it would be great to help with this group of under 5s which will likely happen Thursdays.
None of this seems you - then do you have another skill you would like to share with the mothers and toddlers- then speak to the Centre manager. You might want to play guitar , do some clay work or something entirely different on a one off or regular basis- anything can be considered
