CHANGE YOUR COMMUNITY IN A WEEKEND
Think you know what Big Society means? Think anyone else you know does? Do you even think the Government know what they mean?!
Here at v, we’ve been inspired by the debate around young people’s role in their communities and the ‘Big Society’. We really don’t think anyone is more qualified to work out exactly what that looks like than you!
We’re creating an online community where you, and other young people, can share ideas and show others what you’ve been up, and what the Big Society means to you. We’ve called it:
Big Society’s Big Mouth. Clever right?
Of course, an online community can’t be where it begins and ends. We want to give you the opportunity to CHANGE your communities for the better.
That’s right, we’d love you to see the change that needs to happen, recruit and inspire other young people to the cause and pick up some (free!) training and practical project management experience on the way.
As Community Activists (catchy) you will have a chance to attend training, meet other proactive young people, oversee the recruitment of volunteers and pull off a high profile and high impact local project in YOUR area.
A HUGE MASSIVE team from v will be there to support you, but it really will be your hard work over one weekend in March that will change your community.
If you’re free and willing to attend a training day in London on Saturday 22 January and able to dedicate some time to recruiting volunteers (through a mix of online and offline, they could be your friends, your college buddies, anyone goes!) and finally, a weekend in March to actually deliver your own unique slice of the Big Society then we want to hear from you
What will you get out of it?
A change in your community. A chance to lead and inspire others. Free training and project management skills for your CV. To say you were one of the first to make the Big Society a reality.
