After training and induction is completed, a match would be made between the befriender and the young person, and they would then arrange to meet on a regular basis thereafter.

We want you to give an afternoon every one or two weeks to spend time building a friendship with a young person with a disability in Croydon. This would involve
• Weekly or fortnightly contacts (for 3 or more hours) with children and young people
• Accompanying the young person to undertake activities, e.g. Cinema trips, cycle rides, ten pin bowling and anything you are both up for!
• Providing emotional and practical support where appropriate
• Assisting the young person to participate in mainstream activities and helping them work towards making decisions about their future.
• Completing forms for each visit We need people who are
• Enthusiastic
• Friendly
• Dedicated
• Willing
• Eighteen years of age or older
