• Research and collection of producer-related information – using internet, communication with staff and reference to internal and external reports and in-house databases, identify and summarise information relating to Fairtrade certified producer organisations in developing countries as required by internal and external partners
• Logistical support to event management – managing mailing lists, invites, correspondence and logistical arrangements (room bookings, travel etc) for events relating to advocacy and impact research
• Other administrative tasks as required
Skills required:
• Experience of carrying out policy or evaluation research, reading and analysing academic texts and government documents
• Excellent writing skills, experience of writing reports and briefings preferred
• Academic qualifications and/or prior experience related to international development or Fairtrade
• Organisational and planning skills
• Sound I.T. skills with familiarity of MS Word, Excel and internet use
• Experience of networking and joint working in NGO sector
• Flexibility! What will you have learned / achieved by the end of this assignment?
• Greater understanding of the Fairtrade sector and in particular the issues affecting farmers and workers in developing countries and impacts of Fairtrade for these communities
• Experience of conducting research and writing reports /briefings for internal and external audiences
• Experience of developing lobbying/policy processes in UK and EU
• Exposure to NGO working environment and developed contacts and networks
