READ International is delighted to announce the launch of our Young Leaders programme to schools and colleges in England funded by v, the National Volunteers Service. Our Young Leaders programme aims to create a national network of active global citizens in secondary schools in England. Young people in Year 12 and Year 13 will lead a social enterprise project collecting disused books from their schools and local communities. They also organize fundraising activities raise money to cover the costs of sending the books to under resourced schools and libraries in East Africa. The Young Leaders are mentored by our student volunteers who are involved in regional Book Projects, based at local universities. Click here to watch the project in action.
