Making it Happen Volunteer Selection Team

v are looking for 100 18-25 year olds to help select the best volunteers to support the London 2012 Olympic Games.
When we need you:
- Flexible
Volunteers will need to commit to: a) one evening training session on 8th or 9th November from 4pm-7.30pm, plus b) 5 out of 15 selection events between November 2011 and February 2012. These will be full day events. Dates for the selection events are: 12 Nov, 3 Dec, 4 Dec, 10 Dec, 11 Dec, 17 Dec, 18 Dec, 7 Jan, 8 Jan, 4 Feb, 5 Feb, (additional dates are expected and will be added when confirmed). Lunch will be provided at daytime events and light snacks at evening events. The selection events will be held at different venues around London and occasionally outside London, so the ability to travel is required. Travel expenses will be provided for volunteers living outside London.

This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for young people to get directly involved in the delivery of the London 2012 Olympic Games, the greatest show on earth.
It’s also a great opportunity to gain valuable experience to boost a CV, obtain free training and meet new friends – you’ll be one of 100 young volunteers who make up the Young Games Makers Selection Team.
The role is key to ensuring the most capable and committed volunteers are recruited to support Olympic atheletes. The role will involve:
making applicants feel welcome,
representing v and LOGOG,
assessing potential volunteering teams,
using a fair recruitment process and
ensuring everyone has an enjoyable day whether or not they are successful.
We’re looking for:
enthusiastic, flexible and reliable people
who have good communication skills and are confident in approaching new people
and who are committed to v and LOCOGs volunteering values.

I'm 18 in March, which means I'll be 18 for the Olympics. Does that matter? Or do I have to be 18 by October?

You need to be a minimum age of 18 when this volunteering activity takes place – so you need to be aged 18 by November 2011.

The selection days are full day events and will be taking place on: 12 Nov, 3 Dec, 4 Dec, 10 Dec, 11 Dec, 17 Dec, 18 Dec, 7 Jan, 8 Jan, 4 Feb, 5 Feb. Additional dates are expected and will be added when confirmed. You need to be available for 5 of the selection dates.
You also need to be available for a training session on 8th or 9th Nov 4pm-7.30pm
