When we need you:

We are about to start recruiting young people into the available placements, which are across Kent. We offer supported work experience for 3-6 months and there is a training programme specifically designed for the project by Kent and Medway Social Enterprise Network (KAMSEN). This training programme involves an average of one day each month from December to April – 5 sessions in all plus attendance at the project’s Final Seminar in June.

    As part of the European-funded project Green Futures for Young People, there will be a Network of 20 Trainee Business Development Officers established across Kent, each working within a not for profit organisation, linked together through joint training, shared interests and ICT.

    JOB DESCRIPTION

    - Work as part of a small team

    - Carry out research, local, national, European, on specific activities and interests of the organisation.

    - Record results

    - Recognise scope for business growth & format ideas

    - Help to create new business opportunities to develop the organisation and to benefit its clients

    - Try to identify new resources to expand the work of the organisation and make applications for new funding

    - Be part of a county-wide Network of Trainees

    - Use ICT, sharing ideas & keeping in touch with other Network members

    - Help develop the organisation through recognising administration and business needs and responding to those needs

    - Attend joint training sessions

    - Engage with the organisation’s wider activities in whatever ways are appropriate, under the supervision of staff

    - Take part in meetings and/or seminars as required

    - Play an active part in all parts of the project, contribute to its achievements in any way possible

    - Be prepared to travel to other parts of Kent and the UK as well as to partner countries in Europe if required (under the supervision of staff)

    - Preferred age 17 – 26 (desirable but not essential)

    - Interest in working with disadvantaged people (essential)

    - Experience of using computer or willing to learn (basic level Word, Excel etc) (essential)

    - Interest in office work (essential)

    - Interest in business development, natural “entrepreneur” (desirable)

    - Able to drive (desirable but not essential)

    - Prepared to undertake training, in-house and across Kent (essential)

    - Interest in other countries (desirable)

    - Team-player, willing to contribute to work of the team and to be part of the wider project when required (essential)

    - Prepared to learn new skills and to share knowledge, experience & skills with others (essential)
