Practical conservation – help manage our nature reserves.

    Who:

    16 - 18 year olds and vulnerable adults (Must be accompanied by a responsible adult)

    and 18 - 25 year olds. Everybody is welcome whatever your ability or experience.

    What:

    Help to manage our 34 nature reserves in Leicestershire and Rutland. Example of tasks are fencing, scrub clearance, hedgelaying, invasive plant removal, tree management.

    Tools, gloves and training are provided. Wear clothing suitable for the weather and that you don't mind getting dirty and sturdy boots with good grip. Steel toe capped boots and wellies (sizes 5 – 12) can be borrowed from the Trust. Just call John in advance to give your size.

    Bring a packed lunch with you. We will provide those hard-earned teas, coffees and biscuits!

    When:

    Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays each week. (You can come out on the day you are available but do let us know you are planning to join us.)

    Work days start on the reserve between 9.30am and10.00am (ask for work programme for exact times) and finish around 3.00pm.

    Or lifts are available from the Trust Office, Brocks Hill, Oadby but need to call to book a place/s in advance.

    Before attending a work day please let John know you are wanting to come so enough tools are brought and on a rare occasion let you know it is cancelled.
