Team v are a group of young people inspired to make positive change in their local communities. We're currently running a campaign about loneliness and isolation amongst older people. This is an issue that believe to be very important as recent estimates place the number of people aged over 65 who are often or always lonely at over 1 million.
I need volunteers to help me plan and organise a social event with older people using the information from the focus groups. Tasks will involve researching venues, organisations, businesses etc; organising other volunteers and people for the main event, basic budgeting and transport; advertising and attending the event and making sure it runs smoothly. You will need to commit for at least four weeks, with a minimum of 3 hours per week, culminating in the social event lasting a full day.
You need to be able to travel around the Lewisham borough comfortably - predominantly Catford and Brockley. You will be reimbursed for travel expenses. Benefits include pizza at the initial meeting, certificates for those that volunteer 10 hours or more, and the opportunity to receive vouchers for your hard work.
