  This is a 6 month voluntary placement including training at Wembury Marine Centre near Plymouth.  Volunteers will be involved in raising awareness of the marine environment through education and interpretation.  T

  asks will involve organising and leading public events – including rockpool rambles, beach cleans and guided walk as well as organising and leading environmental education activities.  You would be mainly working with school groups particularly on the rocky shore but also in the classroom.

  Other tasks will include giving talks, engaging in community involvement, developing new interpretation material, evaluating educational work, manning the visitor centre and promoting the Wembury Marine Conservation Area. 

   

  The work will involve being outside and activities take place rain or shine.

   

  There are some unsociable hours as Wembury Marine Centre is open at weekends and on bank holidays.  

  We ask that applicants feel confident that they will be able to commit to this role for the 6 months and be available for interview. 

   

  We are looking more for aptitude and potential rather than current ability, and envisage this would be an excellent opportunity for recent graduates wanting to enter the job market.
