Dorset Youth Association (DYA) would like to invite Young Dorset Citizens to an action packed summer away from home, making friends, boosting your CV, acquiring new skills and planning your own community project?
National Citizen Service (NCS) is a Big Society initiative, supporting young people from all backgrounds to work together, take on new challenges and make a difference. DYA are offering the chance for 90 young people across Dorset to take part Free of Charge in a Summer you will never forget!
DYA are looking for 16 yr olds who want to get involved in a 3 week project, which will have specialised themes such as sports or music and will give you a chance to spend your summer holidays being active!
We will get to know each other before the main programme starts by getting involved in lunchtime clubs at school with drop-in taster sessions during in the evenings and at the weekend.
How it works:
The main programme takes place over 5 weeks during the Summer holiday and those participating in the NCS will take part in two weeks of residential activities – which involve fun activities, which could include abseiling, mountain biking, coasteering, assault course, kayaking, horse riding, aeroball, trampolining, canoeing or anything else, providing personal challenge and developing ideas around positive social action, followed by local, community based social action projects.
You could end up on Dartmoor, in a town or the countryside. But whatever you end up doing….. You’re guaranteed to have the time of your life.
The programme is aimed at young people who are currently in Year 11, who will have turned 16 by the 31 August 2012.
