The Last Night A DJ Saved My Life Foundation unites the global dance music community to raise vital awareness and funds for humanitarian and environmental causes. Our initiative House the House will aim to train and mentor young volunteers to organise and run a nationwide DJ competition for 16-25's, across 11 UK cities in June 2012. The cities are Belfast, Birmingham, Brighton, Bristol, Cardiff, Glasgow, Liverpool, London, Manchester, Newcastle and Sheffield. The winner will play at the House of Commons with a world famous DJ in March 2013. This project is backed by MP Mike Weatherley (Rock the House/Film the House).
Competition entrants must give 4 hours of their time to a community project in their area and will be trained in various skills, such as music, film, performance, art, stage management, lighting, planning and promotions. We’re working with youth group leaders to facilitate the competition and we seek volunteers to help with their regional heat and any community placements for the DJs to do their four hours community service.
