More info
Pump it Up at your own home is a great way to make your first carbon saving and you will receive a United Nations endorsed Environmental Action Certificate for the effort! It's simple, just pump up your car tyres to the right level. See the simple steps below...
Also, all volunteers who pump it up and provide tyre pressure data and/or photographic evidence will be entered into a prize draw for a £50 gift and the volunteer who pumps up the most cars will get a £75 gift.
What?
Keeping tyres pumped up saves between 50-90kg of CO2 a year per car. We are asking 3000 of our volunteers to take part, so with your help we can save 270 Tonnes of Carbon from this one action. Thats the same an average person in the UK will make in 27 years!
How?
Follow this step-by-step process:
- Ask permission from the car owner to pump up their car tyres to the correct level.
- Go to http://www.tyre-pressures.com/ to find out what the car tyre pressure should be (you’re looking for the PSI number).
- Grab a pump and a camera! Either use the car owners or go to a local petrol station.
- Now pump up the tyres to the level the website recommends and photograph yourself doing it.
- Finally, email us to let us know you successfully carried out your own Pump it Up – with your photo(s) attached – so that we can send your UNEP Environmental Action Certificate.
When?
You can start and finish this carbon-saving project today and still make a large impact. Remember to email us at climate.squad@globalactionplan.org.uk with the following details to receive your Certificate and to confirm that you have completed the project:
Subject: ‘Pump it up at home’, Full Name, Contact Number, Photo or evidence, and Address.
Thanks!
