Exhibition Invigilators are the public face of DadaFest and are expected to welcome visitors to the exhibits and monitor security at sites of work. Acting as a point of contact between DadaFest and visitors in exhibition venues, volunteers will offer a knowledge and understanding of DadaFest and an enthusiasm for contemporary art. Volunteers will be expected to provide guided tours of the exhibition, engage in conversation with visitors offering interpretations of the work, answering questions and ensuring the completion and collection of audience feedback forms for festival evaluation purposes. There will also be an opportunity for all volunteers to participate in blogging and documenting the festival online.
Key Responsibilities:
• To operate, (switch on and off), equipment for multi-media exhibits/installations at exhibition venues/galleries.
• To observe health and safety procedures at all times when operating technical equipment.
• To monitor security and audience attendance at exhibition/gallery venues.
• To be helpful and friendly at all times.
• To be familiar with the layout of the gallery/venue.
• To encourage visitors to complete comments book/feedback forms at exhibitions.
• To report medical, fire, or safety emergencies to the Volunteer Supervisor and/or designated gallery/venue staff, immediately.
• To act in accordance with DaDa’s ethos, health and safety and child protection/safeguarding policies and procedures, to ensure safe and secure working environments at all times.Person Specification/Skills Needed:
• To be I.T. and computer literate
• To have an interest, knowledge or experience of working within the arts and cultural sector
• You will need to be 16 – 25 years old, and Disabled and/or Deaf
• To have a strong commitment to equal opportunities
• Excellent communication skills
• Approachable and friendly nature
• Ability to act on own initiative
• Ability to work as part of a team
• To have an awareness of/and/or be prepared to undertake training in Health and Safety and Child Protection/Safeguarding procedures
• All volunteers will be required to undergo CRB checks before participating in volunteering opportunitiesTraining:
• Volunteers will be expected to undertake Health and Safety, Disability Equality and Customer Care training, which will be provided by DaDa and/or qualified training facilitators. -
