    National Gymnastics Advisory Panel- GAP

     

    In 2009 a national GAP was created to capture the views and opinions of young people within the sport of gymnastics. The panel serves three main purposes:

    • To discuss and review future projects proposed by British Gymnastics and provide advice on how they can be improved to benefit young people.
    • To identify areas where British Gymnastics can improve their offerings to young people and pitch suggestions for new projects for implementation.
    • To liase with members of leadership academies and other youth advisory groups to create a stronger volunteer network.

     

    The panel meet a minimum of three times a year at various locations around the country. We spend the Saturday volunteering at a gymnastics event and the Sunday in meetings. The role in voluntary but all out of pocket expenses can be reclaimed.

     

    Get involved…

     

    A vacancy has opened on the panel; an exciting opportunity for anyone aged 18-25 passionate about gymnastics. Being a member of the panel would give you the opportunity to get involved in:

    • Representing the voice of young people on national working groups.
    • Helping to develop gymnastics leadership academies.
    • Tutoring entry level courses E.G. event officiating award.
    • Getting involved in the planning and organising of national and regional events.
    • Giving views and support on projects that British Gymnastics are working on.

     

    Could you be on the panel? …

     

    To take on this exciting opportunity you should be able to meet the following criteria:

    • To have undertaken leadership and volunteering in either schools, clubs, community or sporting events
    • To have experience and knowledge of gymnastics
    • To have volunteered, coached or officiated in sport

     

    What you would need to do…

     

    • Be available to attend a minimum of 3 meetings a year.
    • Be willing to help out at regional events.
    • Be enthusiastic and passionate about gymnastics.
    • Have an average of an hour each week to commit to GAP work, whether this be sending emails, writing project plans, or visiting leadership academies.
