  • More info

We are Restless Development, the youth-led development agency. Our mission is to place young people at the forefront of change and development. Our strength comes from being led by young people, from the boardroom right through to the grassroots.

For 25 years we have been working with both international volunteers and young people in Africa and Asia to deliver programmes tackling some of the most pressing issues facing young people today; such as HIV and unemployment. We know that young people have the energy, commitment and skills to solve some of the world’s biggest problems.

One of the programmes we run is International Citizen Service (ICS). Funded by the Department for International Development, ICS is a global volunteering experience that supports young people from all backgrounds to make a real difference to some of the world’s poorest people. The programme will also build a generation of global citizens across the UK and in developing countries.

Volunteers spend 12 weeks overseas, working alongside young people from the country where they are placed. ICS is open to 18-25 year olds, with limited places available for Leaders aged 23+.

We have placements in India, Nepal, Sierra Leone, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda and Zambia.

Applications will be assessed on a first come, first serve basis, so make sure you applpy soon!

"For anybody reading this between the ages of 18-25, I’d strongly encourage you to apply for ICS. This is a great chance for you to go abroad and work and develop some invaluable life skills." Jordan, Restless Development ICS volunteer, Nepal 2011.
