When we need you:

Each city will be different and opportunities are dictated by when the events fall, but peak time is usually in the summer (March – July). However, there will be ad hoc events and training offered to all volunteers engaged in the project. Once interested and signed up to a host city the volunteer will receive regular communication through a full-time volunteer based in each host city. Sept – Dec = recruitment and training phase, Jan – July = training and deployment at events phase.

The Youth Sport Trust has harnessed the power of sport to motivate and excite interest to take positive action through the Event Volunteering Project since 2008. Working in partnership with UK Sport and major events teams across six host cities for international sports events this project, funded by HSBC Education Trust and V has sought to create a new generation of young people as sports event volunteers.
Our ultimate aim is to create a diverse and everlasting legacy of young people as sports event volunteers ahead of the 2012 London Olympic and Paralympic Games. Events supported to date have included the London Marathon, Paralympic World Cup, Race for life events, Aviva World Athletics Trials and UK Championships, European Artistic Gymnastics Championships, and the London Moonwalk.
Roles fulfilled by volunteers involved in the events have included, marshalling, media support, runners, scorers, water station marshalls, officiating and sport specific field of play roles. There is always a range of roles and event opportunities each year to gain experience in major event volunteering ahead of the Olympic and Paralympic Games in 2012.
There are no volunteers on this opportunity yet, why not be the first to join?
