Help make a difference and volunteer a few hours of your time to help cheer on Alzheimer’s Society runners

  • How can I get involved? (3)

  • More info

On Sunday 14 October 2012 we need you to help cheer, shout and wave our runners on at the Liverpool Marathon. The marathon, which takes in both sides of the Mersey, proves to be a popular race with over 200 people running for Alzheimer’s Society; raising a fantastic £54,000.

We’re looking for as many people as possible to come and join us on the day to help cheer our runners on as they complete what is a huge challenge for many. By giving up your time we’ll supply you with a free Alzheimer’s Society t-shirt as well as light refreshments. You’ll leave with the satisfaction knowing that you helped our runners get round the course. This really is a fun day and we’d love you to come along and enjoy it with us.

    Volunteer roles

Charity village set up (8am -11am)

We need some early birds to come and help us set up our charity village point in the morning. This will be our main point of contact with our runners on the day where we’ll welcome our runners and supporters throughout the day so we need you to be friendly and welcoming to make everyone feel at home.

    Charity village close (12:30pm – 4pm)

We need volunteers to help us at our charity village stand and greet our runners who will be popping by to say hello after battling their way across the finish line. Afterwards we need a few people to help us take down our stand and pack up.

    Cheer point set up (9am – 12:30pm)

We need a few volunteers to help set up our cheer point. Once this is done it’d be great for you to cheer on all our runners and really help them round the course.

    Cheer point (10am – 2:30pm)

The majority of runners will pass our cheer point during this time so we need you to cheer as loud as you can! This really helps the runners get that extra spur to keep pushing on and cross the finish line.

    Cheer point close (10:30am – 3pm)

We need some volunteers to help cheer on all our runners and then take down our cheer point once the runners have passed.

We’d love to have you help us out on the day but if you can’t stay for the duration then please do come and support us for as long as you can. Whether you’ve helped out before or this will be your first time please come along and support us.

If you’re interested in being part of this fantastic event then please contact Jez on 0207 264 2664 or email jeremy.baker@alzheimers.org.uk with your name, email address and phone number and we’ll be in touch with further details.
