    Volunteers undertake tasks from a range of duties including:

    meet and greet scheme members when they arrive to use the Assistance Service;
    explain all actions to scheme member; this is of particular importance to visually impaired people;
    ensure that safety aspects are explained to the scheme member;
    ensure you are familiar will all Shopmobility scooters and powered wheelchairs - including how to make them 'free wheel'; 
    ensure that scheme members have reached the required standard of competence when using a powered vehicle;

    To take telephone bookings
    To advise and assess new members on the selection of a suitable vehicle.
    To drive vehicles out to meet customers who cannot walk.
    To ask new members for proof of identification
    To fill out the membership form carrying out the correct checks.
    To issue membership cards and explain the conditions of use.
    To instruct members on the safe use of the vehicle and ensure they reach a required standard of competence before taking the vehicle out.
    To retrieve vehicles if they happen to breakdown and replace them with another.
    To handle, keep safe and return all deposits.
    To keep a daily record of chair use.
    To help dispatch the quarterly newsletter.
    To clean and check the vehicles
