The Reading Agency
The Reading Agency’s mission is to ‘inspire more people to read more’. The charity is the UK's leading development agency specialising in actively promoting reading through libraries, founded on the principle that reading changes people’s life chances. The charity recognises that access to reading is not equal for everyone and works to redress the balance by helping libraries modernize their reading service and make more impact, particularly aiming to reach people who would not normally use the library service.
The Reading Agency reaches readers through partnerships with every UK local authority, broadcasters, publishers, workplaces, schools, prisons and youth services. The charity deploys five creative tools to encourage reading and change lives. These are: challenges, reading groups, author contacts, promotions and volunteering.

Dozana The staff are all friendly and helpful. I've been volunteering here for years because of how welcoming they are! Any questions you might have are always answered quickly, but I didn't have many as the information pack was very thorough. I knew my schedule well in advance and got along well with the other volunteers. Staff are quick to help you out and breaks for lunch or a snack are very generous. Overall, fantastic!

typingfaces I have really enjoyed my time at the North Weald library and hope to be taking part next year. The team are really friendly and supportive. For anyone looking for holiday time work experience with children this is a fantastic opportunity.
