42nd Street
42nd Street works with young people aged 13-25, living in Manchester, Salford or Trafford who are under stress, or experiencing mental health problems. All our services are free and confidential.
We offer a menu of support options for young people as we believe that a range of different approaches can be effective in responding to young people's mental health needs. These services include: informal support, counselling, and a range of youth work interventions: drop-ins; young women's and over 18 women's groups; a dedicated counselling service for Black and Asian young women; Imagination Bubble, an arts based project for young people disabilities; the V42 volunteering project; LGBTQ project; self-help resources; and participation work with young people. We have a six week summer programme of activities in addition to arts and drama based projects happening throughout the year via ‘Box of Frogs.’
Young people have facilitated numerous conferences around self-harm, training professionals. In addition we are currently facilitating a comprehensive package of training around the emotional and mental health needs of LGBT young people. We are co-creators of the mental health section on www.thesite.org’, a young people’s advice, support and information website acessed by millions of users.
