Welcome to HYPA, which stands for Hertfordshire Young People in Action. We're a project run by Watford & District YMCA and we cover the whole of Hertfordshire; up until the 31st of March 2011 we used to run vinvolved Herts for the county.

Following the end of our funding from V we are continuing our mission to help young people get into volunteering and community action, however our project is much smaller these days and so we're having to focus our services on young people that might need a bit more help to get involved so we mainly work with young volunteers aged 14 - 25 who are:

• * Ex offenders
• * Have learning difficulties or disabilities
• * Are unemployed or out of school/college
• * Have mental health issues
• * Homeless, or are living in care or are in the process of leaving care, or live in hostel accommodation
• * Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender

If you feel you belong to any of these groups and want to try out some volunteering then get in touch - we can support and encourage you every step of the way to make sure you get every ounce of benefit from giving your time, energy and skills to the community.
