Livability
Livability is one of the largest disability charities in the UK but it might not be a name you immediately recognise. Our founding organisations, John Grooms and the Shaftesbury Society, merged in 2007 and became Livability. With 300 years of collective expertise and resources we have one of the richest histories of working with the most marginalised members of society in the UK.
Each year we help thousands of individuals, their families and communities in working toward a future of choice for them. We believe the focus should be on what people can do rather than what they can’t, helping disabled people of all ages to develop their skills and live independently. The breadth of services that we now offer as Livability is truly encompassing - from residential centres for those most in need, day centres and lifestyle projects for those who wish for more independence, specialist schools and colleges, brain injury rehabilitation and accessible holidays tailored to their often complex needs.
