Cardiac Risk in the Young
Every week in the UK at least 12 ‘apparently fit and healthy’ young people (aged 14-35) die suddenly of undiagnosed heart conditions. CRY raises awareness of young sudden cardiac death and sudden death syndrome (YSCD, SDS, SADS), and offers support to those who have suffered a loss through a network of affected families and counselling. CRY has a Surgery Supporters Network for young people diagnosed with cardiac conditions, and has donated over £500,000 pounds of cardiac machinery to doctors’ surgeries and hospitals. CRY promotes heart screening and ECG testing programmes, and contributes to medical research. CRY funds the CRY Centre for Cardiac Pathology at the RoyalBromptonHospital, and CRY Centre for Inherited Cardiovascular Conditions and Sports Cardiology at St George’sHospital, London.
