More info
Would you like a volunteering opportunity that is flexible? Perhaps one where you don’t need to commit to certain times or days? Or one where you don’t even need to leave your house? FutureYou is a safe social networking site for young people who are looking to get into education employment or training, or just trying to find their way in life.
Who can take part?
If you’re aged 18-25 you could become an online peer mentor. You don’t need any previous mentoring experience, just a passion and empathy for other young people. You also need regular access to the internet and to be able to give us around 2 hours of your time each week. Remember, it’s really easy to volunteer as is all takes place online from the comfort of your computer!
What does it involve?
As an online mentor people might want to chat to you about things that are stopping them getting a job, they may be trying to get on a course, or just find something they want to do. So you could chat to them about getting careers advice, finding out how others have got jobs, help with problems at school or college or home, choosing a college course or many other things that sometimes get in the way of life.
How am I supported?
You don’t have to be an expert as there are also professional advisers and counsellors that you can refer people to and you’ll be given first class training to develop your skills.
How do I get involved?
You need to attend a training day before you can get started online. We are currently recruiting volunteers aged 18-25 email beamentor@thefutureyou.org.uk. You will then get a message with an email address to contact for more information about training days.
We hope to meet you at a training day soon!
