Free entry to festivals

Beat the credit crunch: go to the summer's best festivals for free as a festival volunteer.

Many of the UK's biggest charities have a presence at Glastonbury, Bestival, The Big Chill, Leeds and other UK festivals  with the help of volunteers.

Volunteer roles include stewarding, campaigning, working on stalls or in shops, or picking up litter. It can be hard work, and you'll usually have to sort out transport on your own, but you will get free entry to the event, time off to enjoy the festival, and often freebies such as meals and drinks.

You'll have the chance to work as part of a team, in a great atmosphere, make new friends and experience a festival from a whole new perspective.

The trick is to get organised and apply for your place early. Many charities start recruiting for festival volunteers as early as February. The positions are popular, and many charities give priority to people who have volunteered with them before, but you can get in there if you get your application in quickly.
