The Legend Award

for outstanding leadership.

Kim Cooper

When Kim began University after years of volunteering in in her local library and Barnardo's charity shop, she decided to take on roles with greater leadership and responsibility. She joined Action and was elected as Project Coordinator for Green Streets. Green Streets was a fantastic success. Over the two years they diverted over 50 tonnes of reusable material from landfill and created over 3000 hours of volunteering opportunities. This reflects her expansion of Green Streets into a city-wide scheme with multiple partnerships. She worked with Leeds City Council, local community groups, local police and the other Universities to make sure every group had a say in how the scheme was run.
