Carl Tilson

Carl is a volunteer with Action Duchene where he is chairperson of the Genius project and sits on the National Advocacy Council, both of which exist to raise awareness of Duchene and campaign for better standards of care. Carl suffers from Duchene Muscular Dystrophy and is almost completely paralysed, despite this he hosts fundraising events, attends political lobbies and discussion and raises awareness in the press. His volunteering has raised over £100,000 for medical research into Duchene.

 

 

Rachel McMurray

Rachael volunteers for stonewall on their ‘education for all’ campaign to highlight homophobia and homophobic bullying in education systems. Rachael leads workshops in schools about homophobic bullying, she has created a website in which local people can go on and talk to each other about such problems, gain information and feel safer in their own skin. She also worked with disabled children for two years in her local area and is currently working with the council to try and get a bullying centre for those who have been and are being bullied to go and receive counseling and support.

 

 

Sulaiman Khan

Sulaiman is a passionate, committed and innovative campaigner for the rights of young disabled people. He is also the Trailblazers' London Regional Ambassador. Sulaiman's tenacious and intelligent campaigns (locally, regionally, nationally, and internationally) employ a broad range of campaigning techniques that ensure decision makers are made aware of the things that have a negative impact on his and other disabled people's lives.
