Team activity

The ‘Best Team’ award celebrates dynamic and inspiring teams or groups of volunteers who have worked together to share ideas and skills and learnt from and supported each other.

City Year London

City Year London members give up a year of their time to work full time in schools in deprived areas of London.

The things I get most out of volunteering are…
The satisfaction of knowing that we are making a difference in the children’s lives. The joy of giving back to the community

My volunteering has made an impact on the people I help by…
Making them understand they can do better.

Being nominated for a vInspired National Award makes me feel…
Grateful that our organisation is being recognised on a national platform, with other amazing charities. This will hopefully inspire other young people to volunteer and strengthen their communities. I’m proud to be representing the other 80 corps members and the children in the schools we serve.

If I were Prime Minister for the day, the one thing I would change would be…
Making sure the socio- economic background of all children does not affect any areas of their lives. City year would do this by continuing to have our presence in schools and communities. We would hope to branch out from London and move throughout the UK.

StreetGames North Tyneside

StreetGames North Tyneside has dramatically reduced anti-social behaviour and alcohol related crime by creating sports activities for young people in North Tyneside.

The things I get most out of volunteering are…
Feel good factor, experience, new skills to help out with future aspirations, bring joy to the community, satisfaction of reducing anti-social behaviour, giving young people a positive impact in the community, passing on skills and improving skills of participants in the community.

My volunteering has made an impact on the people I help by…
Improve the anti social behaviour by giving them a focus. Increasing the number of participants by giving them more opportunities in the area. Offer a range of sports to participants such as the neighbour hood festivals.

Being nominated for a vInspired National Award makes me feel…
Overwhelmed, privileged, honoured, a sense of achievement. Proud.

If I were Prime Minister for the day, the one thing I would change would be…
Giving young people a bigger say in many areas such as the facilities, equipment and opportunities. With these facilities young people should have a say on what activities they participate in, when and where it suits their needs. They should be able to take part in new and varying activities to allow for a greater experience.

Warrington Youth Club

Warrington Youth Club young volunteers provide priceless support to children and young people with learning disabilities in Warrington.

The things I get most out of volunteering are…
The enjoyment it gives to people when they have achieved their goals. We like to make people smile. WYC reaches 100+ members every session, knowing that so many people enjoy our session is the best feeling ever.

My volunteering has made an impact on the people I help by…
Listening to them and being there when they need.  Working one on one with young people in "buddy me up" had been immense. We try our best to develop their social skills and always provide activities which are inclusive, fun and engaging.

Being nominated for a vInspired National Award makes me feel…
Like I have achieved something and I am doing something with my life that makes me feel better about myself. Its also great on the behalf of the children at WYC.

If I were Prime Minister for the day, the one thing I would change would be…
To make the world a better and more equal place by funding more volunteering ventures and more projects for young people across the UK treating everyone the same.
