Once you have found the 'Summer of Give' opportunity that you would like to apply for, you will need to sign in and click 'I'd like to do this'. You will then be sent Terms & Conditions. One you have read these, please download the Application form and fill it in.

You will need to return it to summerofgive@vinspired.com by the deadline stated in the email.

The Judging Panel

Once the 'Summer of Give' team receive your completed application form, they will pass it on to our official judging panel. The judging panel will consist of the following:

  • A member of v20, v's Youth Advisory Board.
  • A member of v's Marketing Team.
  • A member of Cake Media Ltd (the event production agency).
  • The 'Summer of Give' volunteer co-ordinator.
  • A member of v's Policy team.

Don't worry, they are all lovely; they are just there to make sure that the most deserving applicants get the gig!

Judging Criteria

To help you make sure you impress the judges, here are some things you need to consider when you fill out the application form:

  • Will the talent showcase being proposed inspire other young people:- Is it creative, interesting, different and will it help to change perceptions of volunteering?
  • How much equipment does the applicant need and how much will it cost for v to provide it- is this prohibitively expensive?
  • Could the talent showcase drive media coverage?
  • Can the applicant actually do what they say they can do e.g. sing/dance/play/perform (the weblinks you include in your application form will help us to judge this).
  • Has the applicant fully considered what they will do for the 4 hours they are being asked to volunteer for each day and does it seem reasonable to fill the time?
  • How many people does the applicant want to bring with them to do whatever it is they want to do e.g. if there is 5 people in a band wanting to do something this might be the only group application we can allow for the event as we won’t have enough tickets.

v wants to showcase different talent at each festival so an important consideration will be getting diverse opportunities across each festival and a good spread of different hobbies and passions e.g. this could be anything from a knitting workshop to a band doing a gig, someone offering to teach a group of young people to drum or a grafitti artist teaching volunteers to create a canvas. All you need to do is think as creatively as possible and be as enthusiastic as possible.

Please note, the deadline for applications to Summer of Give 2010 has now passed. Check out vinspired.com for more opportunities.
