A Week of Two Halfs
Make that a week of 5/7 and 2/7
So what can I say about this week?
Prob best just to skip over most of the week and sum it up with 2 lessons learnt;
+ Big Businesses aren't helpful (naming no names)
+ Approach school EARLY very Early (and I suppose that goes for businesses too, in their cases an entire year early it seems)
Basic summary; After weeks of fobbing me of X supermarket finally said it’s impossible. 4 other Supermarkets continued to fob me off and 1 school politely and with regret said no. Oh and a Food Hub STILL hasn't been sorted out :(
BUTTTTTTT the bad news can go away and the week did finish on a number of positives.
Co-op were able to give me a £5.00 gift voucher which they went to great length to get for me and I was able to purchase 5 quite good quality items which I hope will go a long way to feeding a family.
My youth group PPY (you might have read about them in my last blog post "Experiencing Homelessness" has continued to be AWESOME! 4 tins were donated this week and the sponsorship money raised during that event is going to be spent on food.
Also i have a few ideas on what to do next for a food drive so we'll see where they lead to.
Next week is the BIIIIIIIIIIIIG push - door knocking on around 1,000 homes! Hopefully the weather will be on our side,
Oh and the MOST IMPORTANT bit of news that I deffo didn't forget - We passed the 100 mark!!!!! The total number of Food Items donated now stands at 101! (Which, along with the other 399+ items yet to be donated, will go to Cheltenham 1st Stop)
Hopefully next week the blog will read "500 target smashed!" Make sure you're here to find out! ;)
