More info
Canals and rivers are beautiful places & havens for all sorts of wildlife – but can also be sadly neglected & in need of habitat management and improvement. On many stretches we don’t even know for sure what wildlife is there! This opportunity would see you working closely with the Volunteer Leader, British Waterways ecologists & other volunteers. We will also be working alongside the local Canal Societies to preserve the historic structures & industrial archaeology. This is an opportunity to learn new skills, get out in the fresh air, meet new people & gain valuable experience for your CV. Tasks could include: towpath maintenance, hedge-laying, litter-busting, coppicing, planting native species & installing bird, bee & bat boxes, completing wildlife surveys, developing games & spotters guides & promoting the work we are doing to enthuse others about the wonders of waterway wildlife!! PLEASE NOTE: We are currently only funded in Lancashire/Cheshire/ Merseyside - Sorry! -
