Are you in care or a care leaver?

Do you ever feel like you have no control over what is going on around you? Like you’re just another name in the care system? Do you feel like no one listens to what you have to say, and there is no way to change it?

If so, The Who Cares? Trust is providing an opportunity for young people who have experienced care to raise their voices.

There are many views about the care system but MPs and politicians rarely hear about the experiences of young people who have grown up in care – what was good or what needs to change.

Volunteering for this activity will give you the opportunity to organise and run a special meeting of the Associate Parliamentary Group for Children in Care and Care Leavers which will focus on telling your stories about being in care. You will be helped to do this by working with a professional who has experience of lobbying and campaigning and will develop valuable skills to add to your CV. At the same time you will have the opportunity to work with other young people with care experience and have your say.

The Campaign in parliament opportunity will give young people a chance to play a part of the policies that affect them on a daily basis. They will be able to describe their own experiences in the care system to MPs and politicians. The Campaign in Parliament opportunity gives those who have experience care to impact not only their own lives in care, but also helps to change life for future generations of young people in care. This is your chance to make a change and get your thoughts, ideas and experiences out in the open. Sharing such things will not only make a difference, but also help you to connect with other young people who share your feelings and experiences of care.
