Volunteer for the National Citizen Service and get yourself an adventure of a lifetime
What is NCS?
National Citizen Service (NCS) is a once-in-a-lifetime chance to challenge yourself, find new friends and make your mark on your community. You’ll do outdoor adventure activities like rock climbing, canoeing and archery, develop skills like team building, writing and communication, as well as planning and running a project to benefit your community.
So if you're 15 to 17 years-old, live or go to school or college in the North East, and want to do something worthwhile with your holidays, look no further!
When, where, how?
In the Summer, NCS programmes run from July – August, with regular departure dates. If you have other things on during the holidays – no problem! Just register and we'll get you in the next available spot to suit you and your family’s plans. Otherwise, you could wait until the autumn programme - one unmissable week during October half term.
What does it cost?
Thanks to government backing, the most you'll ever pay is £50, but this could be £10 or even free depending on your circumstances.
Why say yes?
You’ll meet incredible people, learn new skills, discover more about yourself and help your community. You’ll also get a v30 Award for your work on the community project which looks great on your CV and UCAS statement!
Still not sure? Check out what past NCS grads have to say:
“...people come away saying it's one of the best experience they've ever had” – Claire, North East NCS graduate, 2016
“It’s such an amazing experience, it honestly feels like it’s changed my life. Just do it! You’ll meet a great bunch of people, go on adventures and make a difference doing a community project which helps people where you live…and it’s great for your CV or uni applications. I feel like things have turned around for me! It’s like a family” – Beth, NCS graduate, 2015
