Prime Minister Backs Our Reverse Riots Campaign

The last couple of weeks have seen an incredible response to the Reverse Riots campaign, with nearly 3,000 young people and 25 celebrities taking a stand against negativity towards Britain’s youth.

The wave of activity has been so significant that it has reached the very highest levels.

Prime Minister supporting Reverse Riots Campaign

Prime Minister supports the campaign:

“The riots last summer were a wake-up call for the country, and I am determined that we will do everything we can to tackle the causes of the riots to ensure we never see scenes like that again. As we approach the first anniversary of the riots, I’m pleased to see Vinspired highlighting the good work that young people are doing in Britain and working with youth role models to encourage them to do something positive. Last summer, over 8,000 young people took part in the National Citizen Service to give something back to their community, and this year we’re extending that to give 30,000 young people the chance to get involved. It’s important to give all young people the chance to become involved in their community and do something positive, so I wish Vinspired every success in their campaign.”

Deputy Prime Minister adds support:

“We can’t turn back the clock on what happened in last year’s riots. But through all the scenes of destruction, there were heartening signs of communities pulling together, and young people spoke loud and clear about how much they wanted to be a driving force in rebuilding what had been lost and strengthening neighborhoods in the future. So we can and must look ahead to ensure that no young person gets left on the scrapheap. Young people are the next leaders of those communities, and I’m delighted to see Vinspired galvanizing them and all of us around a positive campaign for change.”

Celebrities support Reverse Riots

We’ve also had amazing support from celebrities including Plan B, Paloma Faith, and TOWIE’s Sam Faiers. They are giving young people the chance to feel what it’s like to have thousands of adoring fans by donating their Twitter/Facebook profile pics to a Reverse Riots takeover on August 6, the anniversary of last year’s riots. Once young people have taken their positive picture, they need to tweet it to their favorite celeb ambassador along with the #ReverseRiots hashtag, and it could be their face greeting their chosen celebrity’s fans on August 6.

How you can change the perception of young people:

  • Get all the young people you know to upload their positive messages at Reverse Riots.
  • If you know any young people who are especially passionate about setting the record straight, turn them into ambassadors for the cause. Everyone who uploads their picture gets a personalized URL. The person who gets the most friends uploading their pictures via their URL every week wins a prize.
  • Help us spread the word by following us on Twitter and retweeting, or by posting information on your Facebook page.
