The aim of the Prevention matter service is to support people (older clients) affected by social isolation and loneliness, help them gain the confidence and to reconnect with the local community.

At Connection Support we are looking for Volunteers- Support Worker to provide support to older people living in Independent Living Accommodation across Buckinghamshire. As a Volunteer Support Worker you will be able to assist clients to meet their support needs, including: • Developing and sustaining a working relationship with clients • Supporting clients for a period of time and regularity based on mutual agreement, at times and locations that meet clients’ needs • Providing information and assistance to clients to enable them to make choices about the development of their social network and participation in their local community, including employment, education and training opportunities. • Providing telephone support on a regular or ad-hoc basis to help clients with housing needs, resettlement, low debt and rent arrears • Working with clients to help them learn or improve their practical life skills (e.g. budgeting, paying bill, meal planning • To carry out necessary administration in relation to the above • To accompany clients to appointments and to access local services You will be able to work as a part of a team, receive in depth training, continued support and travelling and out of pocket expenses covered. If you are interested and willing to give a little bit of your time –as little as 2-3 hours every 2-3 weeks-to those in need, please get in touch. We are flexible around the days and hours that you can volunteer. No experience is required. Connection Support provides a breadth of specialist support services to a range of people facing complex life challenges. We work closely to support many clients in Buckinghamshire who have varying needs such as mental health, physical disabilities, learning disabilities, money management, housing support or lacking social interaction. One of our projects is supporting and encouraging older people who reside in Independent Living Accommodation to access services, become involved in community activities that promote health, wellbeing, learning, fun and independence. We are looking for volunteers who together with our Support Worker provide essential help to our clients trough regular welfare check ups, helping organise bill and debt payments, filling out forms, enabling clients to access activities, shopping , socialise and prevent isolation. Also, volunteer assist the Connect Project by accompanying Support Workers on Drop in session in the schemes, accompanying clients to appointments and supporting clients to access local community services. Our volunteers are individuals with variety of interests, skills and backgrounds and we are always interested in people who are empathetic, have a sense of humour and are looking to broaden their own horizons and engage with our thriving community.
