About this Opportunity

We’re FoodCycle. We’re bringing people together through community dining. To stop loneliness and hunger, food poverty and

food waste.

Volunteers make everything we do possible. From collecting surplus food to cooking and hosting shared meals, our volunteers help create welcoming spaces where everyone belongs. You don’t need any special skills – just a bit of time, kindness and a willingness to muck in.

Ways you can volunteer

Cooking volunteer
Love food or fancy learning something new? As a cooking volunteer, you’ll help turn surplus ingredients into delicious, nutritious meals for the community. With no set menus and ingredients changing each week, it’s creative, hands-on and hugely rewarding – whether you’re a confident cook or just starting out.

Hosting volunteer
Our hosts help set the tone. You’ll welcome guests, serve food and spark conversation, helping to create a relaxed, friendly space where people feel comfortable and valued. It’s all about connection – making sure everyone leaves feeling seen, heard and included.

Food Collection volunteer

If you enjoy being out and about, this role’s for you. You’ll collect surplus food from local supermarkets and businesses and deliver it to your local FoodCycle meal, where it becomes a three-course meal shared around the table.

There’s no minimum commitment. Volunteer as often as works for you – weekly, monthly or just now and then. Sessions usually last 3–5 hours, and every shift makes a real difference.

There’s no minimum commitment – you can volunteer weekly, monthly, or whenever you have time. Most volunteer slots are between 3-5 hours, and we’re always happy to welcome you back for more!

Volunteering with FoodCycle is about more than food. It’s about community, connection and using what we have to support one another. We’d love you to join us.

About the Organisation

FoodCycle

FoodCycle community meals bring people together for good food and conversation. We serve up free, wholesome meals made from food that would have gone to waste. Our meals are prepared by volunteers and open to everyone. But FoodCycle is about more than food – we create a cycle of positive change. Reducing food waste. Tackling loneliness. Supporting mental health. Encouraging healthy eating and sustainable living. Together we’re nourishing communities – plate by plate, chat by chat.
