We’re FoodCycle, the community dining charity on a mission to make food poverty, loneliness and food waste a thing of the past for every community.

Our amazing volunteers are at the heart of what we do. They collect surplus food, cook tasty meals, and serve our wonderful guests – all while using ingredients that would have otherwise gone to waste. No experience is needed, just a willingness to get stuck in and make a difference!

Here’s how you can get involved:

Cooking volunteer
Get creative in the kitchen! You’ll learn valuable skills, like how to cater for large groups and create nutritionally balanced meals. With no set menu and ingredients changing each session, it’s a fun challenge to come up with delicious dishes on the spot.

Hosting volunteer
Be the friendly face of FoodCycle! As a hosting volunteer, you’ll serve meals, have chats, and help create a warm, welcoming atmosphere. You’ll build lasting relationships with guests, making sure they leave with full hearts as well as full stomachs.

Food Collection volunteer
Love being on the move? This role is for you! Hop on your bike, take to the streets, or jump in the car to collect surplus food from local shops and supermarkets. You’ll deliver it to your local FoodCycle project, where it will be transformed into a three-course meal for the community.

There’s no minimum commitment – you can volunteer weekly, monthly, or whenever you have time. Most volunteer slots are between 3-5 hours, and we’re always happy to welcome you back for more!
