Your Role in Creating Change

Every Wednesday during term time from 7PM to 8.30PM.

We're looking for volunteers to help out with a football team of enthusiastic young adults with learning disabilities. We run weekly training sessions every Wednesday evening and at the end of the term have a social/prize giving evening. We also play a tournament with similar organisations each term.

Our football team is very popular with our members as it gives them the chance to work on their fitness, teamwork and social skills, while enjoying a good game of football!

The role of the volunteer in these sessions is to support all players to take part in fitness activities, drills, and matches, whilst also participating in all aspects of the training themselves.

Details:

We run our training sessions every Wednesday during term time from 7pm - 8.30pm at a college gym next to our headquarters in North London.

What about training?
Volunteers must attend training and complete a free DBS check before you begin volunteering.

This is a great opportunity to get to know everyone at Kith & Kids: your fellow volunteers, some of our members you will be working with, and gives the opportunity to develop some new skills and expand your knowledge in our workshops.

Topics we cover include:

  • Communication
  • Autism
  • Supporting emotions
  • Safeguarding
  • Creativity & Participation

Epilepsy

Requirements/Benefits:

Previous experience working with people with disabilities is not required, as training will be provided, however it is preferable if volunteers have played football before, and have an understanding of the rules and skills required. Enthusiasm for the role is considered more important than any football abilities!

Benefits include experience for work/studies, meeting new people, developing teamwork skills and a DBS check free of charge.  We reimburse travel expenses, and can provide a reference for up to one year after your final session with us.
