Star Awards Provider - Bolton School
Celebrating Outstanding Volunteering Initiatives
At Vinspired, we are proud to collaborate with exceptional institutions that support and recognize volunteer efforts. This month, we spotlight Bolton School, a key participant in our Vinspired Schools Programme, for their dedication to fostering a culture of volunteering among students.
Embracing Volunteering from a Young Age
Volunteering is an integral part of the educational experience at Bolton School. Students are encouraged to participate in the Duke of Edinburgh Awards and the National Citizen Service from early on. As students progress to Year 12, they are introduced to a diverse array of opportunities, including mentoring at local primary schools, and are encouraged to engage with the Vinspired Awards.
The Impact of Vinspired Awards
The Vinspired Awards offer students a goal to aspire to, promoting reflection on personal growth and skill development. The program has significantly impacted students like Ananya, a Year 13 student, who gained confidence and launched a community project supported by a Cashpoint grant. Her project, a monthly tea party for over 40 elderly community members, exemplifies the transformative power of volunteering.
Encouraging a Culture of Volunteering
To kickstart volunteering, Bolton School suggests setting an achievable target of 20 hours. This initial goal often inspires students to engage further, leading to a lifelong passion for civic engagement. The school provides comprehensive documentation of student volunteering efforts, enhancing university applications and career prospects.
