Star Awards Provider - Envision Birmingham
Behind the scenes of the vInspired Awards are numerous brilliant organisations. These organisations make it possible for you to volunteer in your area and earn rewards for dedicating your time. This month, we’re highlighting Envision Birmingham, who have awarded their volunteers over 300 awards so far this year!
As this month’s Star Awards Provider, we spoke with the project manager to learn more about their impactful work.
Volunteering Opportunities with Envision Birmingham
Envision Birmingham runs programs for 16 to 19-year-olds across 100 schools and colleges in Birmingham, Bristol, and London. These initiatives aim to challenge stereotypes of young people as apathetic or disengaged from their communities.
One of their signature programs is an inter-school competition inspired by “The Apprentice,” where young people tackle community issues by developing project solutions. This 10-month program is delivered in partnership with local businesses, schools, and organizations.
For instance, this year, a team of volunteers focused on supporting refugees and asylum seekers. They organized a donation drive, creating packs with essential items for mothers and babies, as well as a welcome guide to Birmingham highlighting local services.
Impact of the vInspired Awards
The vInspired Awards have had a significant positive impact on young participants. By logging their volunteer hours, they stay motivated and are encouraged to continue their community service. The award application process allows them to reflect on their accomplishments and the skills they have gained, which can be showcased in their CVs or UCAS applications.
Benefits of Volunteering for Youth
Volunteering through Envision Birmingham provides youth with meaningful and consistent opportunities to make a tangible difference. They run sessions on logging hours and applying for the vInspired Awards, simplifying the process and maintaining volunteer motivation.
By engaging in causes they are passionate about, young volunteers are more likely to recognize the value of their efforts, leading to prolonged volunteerism.
