Editorial Standards

How we write, check, attribute, and correct the content you read on Vinspired.

Vinspired is run by a small team. We write our own guides, policies, and marketing pages, and we hold them to a clear standard. This page explains how that content is made and how you can ask us to fix anything that is wrong or out of date.

How we create content

Our content is written by people on the team who work directly on the platform and with the schools, charities, and volunteers we support. We write in plain English and try to say what we mean without jargon.

  • Every public page is read by a second person on the team before it goes live.
  • We use software tools to help draft and edit, but a person checks and signs off every page. We do not publish text that no one has reviewed.
  • Marketing pages and product guides explain what the platform actually does. If a feature is not built yet, we do not describe it as if it is.

Sourcing and fact-checking

When we make a claim about volunteering, qualifications, or data protection, we check it against the original source.

  • We rely on primary sources where we can: government guidance, the ICO, awarding bodies, and the organisations we work with.
  • Statistics name their source and the date they refer to, and we link to the original so you can check it yourself.
  • If we cannot verify a claim, we leave it out rather than guess.

Authorship and expertise

Most pages are produced by the Vinspired team and speak in the platform's voice.

  • Where a topic needs specialist knowledge, such as safeguarding, data protection, or the Gatsby Benchmarks, we draw on team members with direct experience and the relevant official guidance.
  • Posts written by an organisation or a partner are labelled with who wrote them.
  • Volunteer stories and case studies are shared with the consent of the people involved.

How to request a correction

If you spot something wrong, unclear, or out of date, please tell us. We would rather fix it than leave it.

  • Email [email protected] or use our contact form.
  • We aim to reply within five working days.
  • When we correct a published page, we update it in place. For anything significant, we note what changed and when.

How often we review

  • We review our evergreen guides and policy pages at least once a year.
  • We review sooner when the law, official guidance, or a feature changes.
  • Pages that depend on current information, such as statistics or partner lists, are checked whenever the underlying data changes.
