We recently connected with the Volunteering Coordinator at Runshaw College to delve into the significance of the vInspired Awards program for the college and gather tips for our network of Awards Providers on maximizing this opportunity.

Promoting Volunteering at Runshaw College

As the Volunteering Co-ordinator/Development Officer at Runshaw College, we collaborate with a diverse array of volunteer-involving organizations to discover and promote valuable and engaging volunteering opportunities for our students. Approximately 1,500 students aged 16-19 participate in volunteering each year.

Benefits of Being an Awards Provider

Recognition: Being an Awards Provider allows us to acknowledge the volunteering contributions of our students.
Motivation: vInspired offers a platform for students to log and track their hours, motivating them further.
Engagement: Tracking our followers’ hours on vInspired and learning about their incredible volunteering activities is highly rewarding.

The Appeal of vInspired’s Awards Program

The vInspired Awards are recognized nationally by universities and employers, which is a significant motivator for students. Our young people are eager to engage in volunteering, and participation in this program ensures their efforts are recognized both externally and internally.

Here’s an inspiring excerpt from a former student:

“I finished at Runshaw as a public services student about 2 years ago; during my time there, I volunteered and achieved my v50. Now, I have a full-time job and continue to volunteer. I’m preparing to become a fully qualified first aider at work through volunteering, and I’m aiming to join the police as a special constable. Thank you for the invaluable volunteering advice—it truly shaped my future.”

Encouragement for Other Awards Providers

Numerous award programs exist, and while you can initiate your own, vInspired stands out with its recognition by universities, employers, and the young people themselves. They are eager to participate. After volunteering for just 10 hours, young people can earn a certificate, often catching the ‘volunteering bug’ and striving for the v50 and v100 awards.
